Olive (Shifflett) Henry

Olive M. Henry, 93, passed away November 13, 2015 at the Gardens of Western Reserve in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

She was born in Akron Ohio October 12, 1922 and lived all of her life in the Akron/Tallmadge area.

She graduated from the University of Akron with a Music Degree and taught Elementary music in the Field School System until April 1982. She was a member of the Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the Choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. and Lula Shifflett, her husband, John W. Henry, and sisters, Doris Shifflett, Inez Kerr, and Hope Bloom of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Left to grieve her are her sons, William J. Henry (Taunah), Bradley J.Henry (Glenda) and her daughter, Joyce Selzer (Edward).  She had 9 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

God, her family and friends was number one in her life.  She was a wonderful mother and wife. She had a sweet disposition and was always willing to help someone in need.  She had a "quirky" sense of humor and always brought a smile to our faces

God, her family and Music were the loves of her life. She passed on her love of music to her children and grandchildren

She also wrote poetry and loved to read.

She spent the last few years of her life battling dementia and lived at the Gardens of Western Reserve.

The family wants to thank The Gardens of Western Reserve and Summa Home Care Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of our Mother in her final days.

We will be forever grateful for their support and compassion.

Visitation will be 4pm until 7pm, Wednesday November 18, 2015 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will be 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Reford B. Nash, D.Min. officiating.

Graveside service will be 11am Thursday November 19, 2015 at the Northlawn Memorial Garden, 4724 State Road Peninsula, Ohio.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Feed the Children or the Charity of your choice.
