Orville William Fitzpatrick, better known as "Fitz", was born in Akron, Ohio, on July 26, 1918 and passed away on October 11, 2013. He was 95 years old at the time of his death. He lived most of his life in the North Hill-Cuyahoga Falls area. He attended North High School and served in World War II. He was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Barberton where he worked for nearly 30 years. He was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church. He loved his family and made spaghetti sauce and had dinner for them every Sunday afternoon. After his wife passed away, he lived at Danbury Independent Living in Cuyahoga Falls where he lived until a few weeks before his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Ramazetti) Fitzpatrick; also, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Fitzpatrick (Buck) and sisters, Shirley Farino and Betty Rienetz. He will be dearly missed by his three children, Larry and Linda DiGiacomo of San Francisco, Alana and Jim Gambol of Atlanta, and Kim Smith of Seminole, Florida. Fitz leaves five grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren DiGiacomo of San Francisco, Jamie (Matthew) Gambol Brewer and Kara (Marc) Gambol Galbraith of Atlanta, and Kristen (Ricky) Smith Clester of Tallmadge; he has six great grandchildren and another one on the way, Evelyn and Ryan Marie Galbraith, William and Jackson Brewer, and Olivia and Chase Clester. The family would like to give a special thank you to family friend, "Sharkey" Robert Johnson.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Hennessy Funeral Home located at 552 North Main St. (Corner of York and Main St.), Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling hours at 11 a.m., at Blessed Trinity Church (St. Martha) 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
