Patricia A. Spangler

Patricia A. Spangler, age 80 of Randolph passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.

She was born July 27, 1943, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Dale and Eileen (Bernier) Neal. Pat was a Diploma Graduate of the Akron City Hospital Nursing Program. She worked as a Registered Nurse with Robinson Memorial Hospital for 31 years. After graduation, Pat briefly worked as a RN on a Med-Surg floor before obtaining her dream position as a Circulating RN in the OR. In her time as an OR RN, she specialized in vascular surgery and eventually earned her RNFA certification. Upon retiring from nursing, she went to massotherapy school and earned her certification as a Licensed Massage Therapist. Pat opened her own successful business, Meadowsweet Herbs and Massage. Throughout Pat's life she was a dance instructor, lifeguard, head majorette, horse club 4-H member and advisor for Saddle Club and small animal 4-H. Pat enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, canning, cooking and baking. Most of all, she enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren performing in their various activities.

Patricia attended Randolph High School where she met John L. Spangler. The two went on their first date at his Junior Prom and began their life long journey together. The couple eloped in Rockville, Maryland, and were married on April 11, 1963. Pat was a member of Randolph Global Methodist Church and until recent years an active member of the East Ohio EMMAUS Community.  Patricia thoroughly enjoyed singing in church on Sundays, with the Free Spirit Band on Tuesday night worship and being in fellowship with her faith community.

Patricia is survived by her beloved children: James L. (Susan) Spangler, Marie L. (Jerry) Erwin, Mahlon M. (Marica) Spangler; grandchildren, Rebecca (Greg) Piergallini, Cora Spangler, Lauren (Don) Barnes, Wyatt Erwin, Mahlon, Sophia, Sylvia Spangler; great grandchildren, Woodrow, Everett, Tilly, and Theodore; brother, Dave Neal, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John L. Spangler, parents and sister, Carol Montieth.

Pat has been laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
