Paul Denis McCort, 84, passed away January 6, 2025. He was born April 20, 1940 in Akron, where he spent his life residing.
He served in the National Guard and retired from F.W. Albrecht Company (Acme) as a meat cutter and manager with 46 years of service. Paul was a member of the Visitation of Mary Parish and the UFCW Local 880. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and camping. Most of all, he loved visiting and being with his family. Paul was known for his dad jokes, and he couldn't go anywhere without running into someone he knew. He was so incredibly well liked and was loved by everyone he met. Paul never missed an episode of Jeopardy, although he did not like the new host. He loved trivia, drag racing and won a few trophies for drag racing. Paul enjoyed working on cars. He lived his Roman Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Frances McCort; brothers, James, Raymond and Thomas, sister, Ruth.
Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judith; daughter, Amy (Mark) Salapski; sons, Michael (Emily), Timothy (Peg); grandchildren, Zachary, Madeline, Katie, Molly, Steven (Kelly); several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 3 until 6 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Visitation of Mary Parish, 55 Broad St., Akron with Father Dismas Byarugaba officiating.
A Private Burial will take place at Tallmadge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Visitation of Mary Parish.
