Paul Tackett

February 15, 1969 — September 16, 2023

Tallmadge

Paul Tackett, age 54, of Tallmadge, OH died September 16, 2023.

He was born in Cleveland, OH in 1969 to James and Alline Tackett. He graduated from Streetsboro High School, class of 1987, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron. He was a resident of Tallmadge for 24 years.

Paul held deep love for his children: Alex, Ian, and Grace. He cherished his time with them, sharing so many experiences and wisdom with each of them. From the first diaper change, his heart was filled with love. He was a teacher. He taught the boys everything from hunting to carpentry to 80s movies. He took Grace on shopping trips, made pottery with her, and taught her to golf. He supported them in everything from Little League to trapshooting to dance recitals. He believed strongly in exposing them to as many experiences as possible including caving in Tennessee, alligator hunting in Florida, shark fishing in South Carolina, and a grand tour of national parks out west. He worked hard to have a special relationship with each of them. He was so proud of them. He loved being their Dad and they loved him right back.

Paul was a real family man. He loved to explore new places and learn new things with his wife, Heather. He loved taking Heather to the theater and exploring new restaurants with her, but he was also content simply sitting quietly at home with his family, working a puzzle. He shared his passions with them, taking them hunting, hiking, and camping; sharing time and experiences together as a family. He embraced his stepchildren, Ian and Alec Pokrandt, as if they were his own. They were a happy addition to Paul's life, always believing the more, the merrier. He brought all of his boys together at the successful business he owned and taught them well.

Paul's curiosity and love of learning new things drove his life in uncharted directions. He carved his own path, never feeling constrained by traditional approach. He installed his own pool in his backyard. And when that pool needed to be heated, he built his own controller to be able to control the temperature remotely. He built multiple businesses from scratch. He once ran two marathons in one month, not because he was a great runner, but because he wanted the challenge. If he did not know how to do something, he would work until he figured it out. He was a businessman and entrepreneur. He was a hobbyist. He was an adventurer. He was the ultimate jack of all trades.

There are countless things to say about Paul that in the end are summed up by saying that he was a person who worked hard at being a better human every day and who's legacy lives on in the peoples' lives he touched.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, James Tackett.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Heather Tackett; children, Alexander, Ian, and Grace Tackett; stepchildren, Ian and Alec Pokrandt; mother, Alline Tackett; and brother, Joseph Tackett; nephews Douglas and David Tackett.
