Pegianne "Peg" (Loomis) Arnold

Pegianne (Loomis) Arnold, age 80, passed away on September 19, 2025. She was born on July 15, 1945, in Utica, New York.

Peg had a lifelong passion for teaching and helping others learn. She graduated cum laude from Kent State University in 1967, the same year she married her husband, Robert Arnold. The couple made their home in Kent, where Peg taught at Sill and Roberts Junior High Schools in Cuyahoga Falls until 1973.

She then devoted several years to raising her children — daughter Karen and son Craig — before returning to the classroom in 1980 to teach at Wadsworth High School. There, she inspired students in Latin I–IV as well as 9th and 10th grade English. Peg went on to earn a graduate degree in education from Kent State and continued teaching until her retirement in 2000.

Even in retirement, Peg never stopped sharing her love of learning. She taught part-time at the University of Akron until 2013 and volunteered as a reading helper at her grandchildren's schools — something she found deeply rewarding.

Peg had many interests and hobbies, including traveling, sailing, boating, swimming, and studying Spanish. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in book clubs. Above all, Peg's greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Arnold; her parents, Bob and Margaret Loomis; and her sisters, Jean and Debbie.

Peg is survived by her daughter, Karen Stranathan; her son, Craig (Julie) Arnold; and her grandchildren: Evan (Anna) Stranathan, Adriane Stranathan, and Beckett, Emerson, and Maisie Arnold. She is also survived by her sisters, Sherry Hayes and Sue L. Collatz; nephews David, Bob, and John Jr.; and nieces Debbie, Skylar, and Addie.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, November 1st from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

A memorial service officiated by Rev. Bob Machovec will follow from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
