Obituary

Raul Umana, 66, lost his battle with cancer January 12, 2015. He was born in Akron where he lived all of his life.

He served as an Army Medic in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. He was the original voice of Archie The Snowman, an accomplished glass blower, machinist and a man of many talents. We would like to say goodbye to a man almost everyone in the Akron area knew of as "The Birdman" or "Flip".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raul and La Rue Umana and his sister, Linda (Jack) Boatright. Raul is survived by his sons, Vincent Sr. (Felicia) and J. Umana; life partner, Patricia Schott; step daughter, Elizabeth Harrison; grandchildren, Shane, Vincent Jr., Michael, Briana, Olivia, Lydia, Haley, Shayla and Josiah; sister, Jane (John) Chumley; and his beloved Harlequin Macaw, Be Be.

A Celebration of Raul's life will be held from 1 to 5 pm, Saturday, February 7, at Pegasus Lounge, 898 W. Wilbeth Rd. Akron, OH 44314.
