Rebecca "Becky" Jeanette (Smith) Royer

April 17th, 1943 - June 26th 2018; Age 75

Becky passed away peacefully at her residence in Tallmadge Ohio. She was born in Akron and raised in Tallmadge, Ohio. She was a 1961 graduate of Our Lady of the Elms High School in Akron. She attended the Kent State University for one year.

She was married at Holy Family Church in Stow, Ohio to Edward A. Royer on June 12th 1965. Ed was deployed with the US Navy. When he returned home in 1966 they began a family and he started a long career with United Airlines which took them to cities in the Midwest and the South. Becky followed Ed's career with United from Cleveland to Columbus, Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, and back to Chicago in 1990; She worked in the banking industry for over 30 years before retiring back to Tallmadge in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her father Donald E. Smith in 1970 and her mother Mary Elizabeth "Bette" Cole Smith in 1989.

Becky is survived by her husband of 53 years, Edward A. Royer of Tallmadge; four children: Patrick J. Royer (Sophie) of San Diego, CA, Michael D. Royer (Bundle) of Palatine, IL, Megan E. Royer of Tallmadge, Matthew D. Royer (Bob) of Berea, OH,; and three grandchildren: Michael A. "Alex" Cianciola of Chino Valley, AZ, Phoebe M. Royer and Hannah M. Royer of San Diego. Sister Kathy Smith Farrell (Jim) and Brother Donny Smith (Susie) and by her three nieces, Muffy, Melissa and Beth and nephew, Donny.

She was a master story teller and entertained all with her wit and charm. She was an avid bridge player, a very good cook and most of all, proud of her husband and children. She leaves behind a host of friends and family who will miss her witty stories and reminiscences.

Calling hours for family and friends Friday, June 29, 2018, 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday following visitation at the funeral home.

Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery Saturday July 14th 1PM followed by a celebration of life luncheon at the Winking Lizard in Peninsula.
