Tallmadage

Tallmadge – With heavy heart, we announce the death of Dr. Rex W Dinsmore, D.O. who departed his earthly life on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Rex was born to Deane and Ruth Dinsmore in Fremont, Iowa on May 7, 1939. He was raised an 'Iowa farm boy' with two younger brothers, Larry and Keith.

Rex went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Science degree at Northeast Missouri State University in 1960. He went on to receive his Doctor of Osteopathy from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1964, then completed his residency internship at Green Cross Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls in 1965 where he formed lifelong friendships with fellow interns.

He met his future wife, Patricia Glasgow on a blind date and they were married in 1965. The couple had two sons, David and Michael.

Rex spent his 55-year career practicing in Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Falls. He worked for a private practice and then joined four other partners and together opened Tallmadge Family Medical Center in 1976. He treated patients there for over a decade. He finished his career working for Unity Health Network and retired in 2020. Up until his death, he continued to work part-time and kept his medical licenses active.

Rex had many passions and knew a little bit about everything. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland sports fan. He enjoyed hydroponic gardening and plant propagation, and was a master wood worker. Rex loved taking road trips with his family and had a heavy right foot which earned him the nickname 'Rabbit'. Rex dabbled in the restaurant business and partnered in opening The Fondue Affair, near the University Akron in the late 70s. He had an interest in aviation and earned his pilot's license, which he used to take family trips to and from Iowa for years. He was an avid golfer and was a member of The Y golf league. He took a golf trip with his closest friends to Scotland and held those memories very close to his heart.

Rex was an early adopter of technology and owned every new gadget that hit the market. He continued his passion of osteopathic medical research and technology up until his death.

Above all, Rex was devoted to his family and the many patients he cared for. Dr. Rex was a selfless, compassionate, caring man who will be dearly missed by those whose lives he touched.

Rex leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, David (Teresa Hoffman) of Cuyahoga Falls and Michael (Danielle Crane) of Brimfield; sister-in-law, Susan; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his wife, Patricia.
