Richard E. Barr

Richard E. "Dick" Barr, 90, passed away March 15, 2025.  Born in Ashland, he lived most of his life in the Canton area.

Dick retired from Goodyear Tire as a manager in the marketing dept. He played basketball at Rio Grande University, Findlay University and is in the College Basketball Hall of Fame at both universities.  Dick played semi pro basketball with the Goodyear Wingfoots. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He loved to play practical jokes on people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Vera Barr; two sisters and two brothers.

Dick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Delores; daughters, Beverly (Chuck) Evans, Denise Meyer; sons, Daniel (Young) Barr, Dennis (Laura) Barr, Gary (Shelley) Callicoat; sister, Barb Petit; grandchildren, Sarah, Shannon, Serena, Nick, Sophia, Samuel, Matthew, Joseph, Isabella, Lily, Avery, Sydney; six great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, OH (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor John Mangum officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville.
