Richard Bernard Grill, 89, passed away April 15, 2015.
He was a Lieutenant in the Akron Fire Department, retiring with 33 years of service, and also retired from Norman Walsh Construction. Richard served in U.S. Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Tallmadge.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Richard was amazing man, husband, father whose strong work ethic and family direction provided support and guidance to his children and family. He was his daughters' first love and his sons' first hero. Richard was a man of few words. A man with an opinion but never opinionated. Strong and firm yet always understanding and willing to help. He was the stabilizing influence for all of the Grill family. We are all thankful for his life and what he instilled in all of us.
He will be missed in death as he was loved in life, which is immeasurable.
Special thanks to those who loved him, cared for him, prayed for him and showed kindness to him throughout his life.
The family was comforted by the exceptional personal care provided by caregivers Carolyn Adam and Amanda Posan. We would also like to acknowledge Summa Home Hospice Care.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellen Grill; sister, Ilene Ciriano and daughter in law, Sylvia Grill.
Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Madelyn; sons, Richard B. (Jan) Grill and Thomas P. Grill ; daughters, Linda Brown, Gloria Gene Hull, Jo-Nell (John) Martin; brothers, John (Evelyn) Grill, Gerald (Darla) Grill, Danny (Mary Carol) Grill, Ellen (Tom Kempel) Miletti. Grandchildren, John Martin, Erik (Daneen) Martin, Kelly (Brian) Cooper, Jamie (Heather) Grill; and four great grandchildren.
