Richard (Dick) Protich, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday July 19, 2024 at Danbury Woods.

He was born in Akron, Ohio on February 17, 1931 and lived in Akron most of his life, moving to Cuyahoga Falls in 1993.

Dick retired from First Energy as Plant Superintendent of the Gorge Power Plant with over 40 years of service. He belonged to the Edison's Men's Club, Senior Golf Group and was an avid walker. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He volunteered at Danbury and Danbury Woods, where his beloved wife, Naomi, of 62 years passed away.

Dick is survived by children Mike Protich (Beth), Kathleen Cavileer (John)

Grandchildren Johnny Cavileer (Breanne), Natalie McCrory (Sean), Julie Protich (fiancé Austin Graham), Michael Protich (Kerra)

Great grandchildren Everett, Estella, Avery, Nolan, Imogene and Sebastian

Sisters Yvonne Beattie, Rita Phillips and sister in law Shirley Fanelly. Many nieces and nephews and good friend, Jimmy Peters.

Also, dear to his heart Jean Protich and cousin Patty Russell.

He was preceded in death by his wife Naomi, brother Sonny, cousin Ray and grandson Richard.

Dick had many interests. He loved to go fishing, play golf, watch John Wayne movies, listen to Big Band, and watch Ohio State and the Bears. He also enjoyed a good vodka martini (stirred, not shaken 007) and never met a scratch-off he wouldn't play. However, his favorite thing was spending time with his family and cooking chicken paprikash. He loved his family more than anything. He could not talk about his family without getting tears in his eyes. He will be remembered for his funny stories, bad jokes, big smile and great hugs.

Calling hours will be held at Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 North Main Street Akron 44310, located across from St Anthony Church, from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Ritman.
