Obituary

Robert Carano Robert Carano, of Akron, was unexpectedly called home on October 27, 2015 at the age of 84. He was a man who was respected as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His advice and council was sought by so many. He was born in Carovilli, Italy on December 9th, 1930. He married his wife Vera of 60 years on September 10th, 1955. In 1956, he came to this country and built a better life for himself and his family. He was a self-directed man who achieved what he set out to do. He taught others that a man who speaks with an accent means he knows more than one language. He was retired from the City of Akron Highway Department after 33 years of dedicated service. He served as past president of the Carovillese Club. He was current president of the Patterson Park Seniors' Club. He was a faithful parishioner and servant of St. Anthony Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Anita, and his daughter, Lisa. He leaves behind, his wife, Vera; his son, Sergio; grandson, Marcus; brother, Antonino (Aurelia); and niece, Agnese. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 30th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 N. Main St., Akron, Ohio 44310 (corner of York and Main). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 31st at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron, Ohio 44310. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery next to his beloved daughter Lisa.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to St. Anthony's Church.
