Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" "Bobby" Costas, 53 of Canton, went home to be with his Savior and beloved parents at the end of January, 2018.  Bob was born on October 15, 1964 to his late parents, George and Gertrude.

He attended St. Sebastian Grade School and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.  For a brief period of time, he lived in his favorite state of North Carolina while working at S&N Dutch Barns before returning to Ohio to earn a Computer Programming Degree from the University of Akron.  Bob was married twice and loved his wives dearly as well as loving their children as if they were his own.  He spent his later years affectionately caring for his mom and brought sunshine to her days with his ritual gift of fresh cut flowers.  In recent years, he enjoyed spending time reconnecting with childhood friends.

Bob was a shy person with a gentle soul, selflessly generous and kind to all he met.  He valued his relationships with his nieces and nephews and supported them throughout the years.  He excelled at golfing, baseball, pool, fishing, and yahtzee.  He loved playing euchre with family, many times partnering with his mom to beat anyone willing to challenge them.  Attending family gatherings and watching the Indians, Cavs, and Browns brought him much joy.  He loved his time spent alone reading anything from the Bible to Stephen King and Dean Koontz novels, lifting weights, and listening to music from the classics like Jackson Brown, Cat Stevens, and Phil Keaggy to all Christian music.

Bob was a man of few words but when he spoke, he spoke from the heart with much conviction and depth and had great insight about this life and life after.  Most of all, he loved talking about his relationship with the Lord.  Bob struggled with various illnesses throughout his life, but towards the end, he found great comfort and peace with knowing he would spend eternity with Jesus.

Bob is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved siblings, Pam Goehler, Gary (Sandy) Costas, Richard (Diane) Costas, and Trudy Bachmann; former brother-in-law, Edward Bachmann; and nieces and nephews, Brian, Michael, Andrew, Carrie, William, Emily and Hannah.  He will also be greatly missed by his close friends and other family members.

The family would like to thank his close friends who offered their support and loved him unconditionally.

We were blessed to have known Bob and we are left with the warmth of his spirit and are comforted in knowing we will see him again.

The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 11th, with a Memorial Service beginning at 3:30 officiated by Reverend Jeremy DiBartolo at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reformers Unanimous @ Freedom Found Ministries, PO Box 36704, Canton, OH 44735
