Robert G. ("Bob") Nemer went home to be with his parents, George and Blanche (Née Khoury) Nemer, many extended family members and cherished friends early in the morning on Sunday, April, 11, 2021.

Bob was born in Akron on November 8, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of the Akron area. He was a proud graduate of both the University of Akron (BS - Business) and Kent State University (MBA and M.Ed.). He often talked with fond memories of his time at UA as a letterman catcher for the baseball team and member of the "Lone Star" Fraternity. Following his graduation, he served in the US Army at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Bob's career was long and full, but our dad preferred brevity and was typically "in a big hurry" either confirming plans for church, taking you to dinner or just making his next phone call (he loved his phone). So in deference to his style - we will be brief! Bob started as a teacher and coach in the Tallmadge School District, sold real estate, worked for Goodyear and then Firestone, and ultimately retired from Society Bank (NKA - KeyBank) in 1998, to enjoy life and travel with his beloved wife of 60 years, Marion (Née Alexander) Nemer.

Bob is survived by Marion and their 4 children and in-laws, 6 grandchildren and many loved ones, including his first cousins and their families, Marion's family, in particular her sisters who were sisters to him, and many nieces and nephews. He also left numerous dear friends and wonderful neighbors.

It was always clear that family came first to dad. We (his children and grandkids) actually regarded him as our part-time "Public Relations Specialist" (So if you knew Bob, you already know a lot more than we will print here). His immediate family: daughter Judy (John) Seabolt, of Cuyahoga Falls, and their children JR and Jacob; daughter Jacqueline Nemer and Brad VanAlstyne, of San Francisco, CA, and their children, Nevan and Jackson; son RJ and Laura (née Bancroft) Nemer of Hudson, and their children Grace and Clark, and son David Nemer of Stow.

Bob had a way with handling... well.... basically, everything. And he wasn't quiet about that. He was especially good with words, and often wrote little limericks and "secret anagrams" for his kids on their Christmas gifts (A most common one was "From TMWPTB" meaning "The Man Who Pays The Bills).

While we could never do justice for all that he meant to us, and what we feel he meant to many, here is the best attempt to capture Bob in a format he would have liked...

HI. I'M BOB NEMER .

He had no desire, want or need to prove he was the biggest winner,

In fact, you were more likely to find him in a casual shirt at a local spaghetti dinner;

Golf, the "Akron Y," liar's poker, and handball were only a few passions of his life,

But nothing captured Bob's heart even close to the love of Marion, his wife;

His four children - he was always incredibly generous, tough, honest and kind,

It is so easy for us to know he did everything with "the kids" top of his mind;

Grandkids came along, and suddenly Bob's "old rules" he didn't keep,

Instead of worrying about a bargain, his new mantra - "don't be so damn cheap!"

His last few years spent struggling to walk but his mind still the sharpest knife,

As we recall memories now, we have learned he left us with some lessons on the meaning of life -

Love your family, don't stay angry and say what you really mean,

Stay humble, go to church and keep your garage and car clean;

Say the rosary, support charity and always try to give someone a smile,

Don't look for shortcuts, worship God, and absolutely walk the extra mile;

Work hard, save your money and never forget a single friend,

We only live this life once, so stay grounded and authentic until the very end.
