Robert Stephen Giet, 67, better known as "Bob from Ohio", quietly passed away July 10, 2024 after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Akron, Ohio on January 23, 1957 to Carl and Dorothy Giet of Stow, OH. Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynda, who was his high school sweetheart. He is also survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Eric) Black, Julie (Mark) Ramirez all of Tallmadage,OH; and his biggest joy..the grandchildren, Jacob, Mackenzie, Zachariah, Ezekiel, Rudie Mae and Russell. Bob leaves brothers, Carl T. Giet of Georgia, James (Susan) Giet of Illinois, William (Linda) Giet of Tallmadge; sisters, Ruth (Bryon) Posey of Texas, Elaine (William) Holehouse of Columbus; and many additional family members, nieces, nephews, who loved him dearly. . He loved spending time with them. He was the best grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister in law, Vicki Giet of Georgia.
Bob retired from the City of Stow in the Street Department after 33 years. He then worked part time at the Ultimate Sac. His favorite past time was enjoying his golfing league.
Bob loved softball, watching Pittsburgh and Ohio State football games and grilling out with his family. He was known to his neighbors as a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Bob was also known for his wonderful Christmas light display and the biggest Christmas tree he could find.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Bob would know he was quick with laughter and even quicker with wit. He loved a hot beach, a cold beer, and was always ready for an adventure
Visitation will be 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Eugene Church, 1841 Munroe Falls Ave, Munroe Falls with Fr. Pete Coletti officiating.
Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.
