TOGETHER AGAIN

Robert J. Oakes age 92, of Akron Ohio, passed away peacefully at Cross Roads Hospice on December 1, 2018.

He is survived by his two brothers, Paul and Russell Oakes; daughter, Lorraine Oakes; his loving grandchildren, Teresa and Dustin Overholt; granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Overholt; and his great-grandchildren, Hanna and Abigail Overholt. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, after 71 years of marriage a few months ago.

He was a Veteran of the US Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor during WWII. Robert was an avid gardener in addition to an award winning rose gardener. He loved listening to music and tinkering with projects in his office at his house. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach, especially Myrtle Beach, SC. He was an active participant in many churches and always had a great time making sandwiches for the homeless.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Monday, December 10, 2018 at Blessed Trinity Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron where friends will be received one hour prior at the Church.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
