December 6, 1927 – March 9, 2016
Robert E. Schaber, 88, passed away March 9, 2016. He was born in Aurora, Il and lived most of his life in Akron. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired as a Sheet Metal Worker. He was a member of the K of C #3529 and loved camping, bowling and golfing. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita; parents, Joseph and Anna Schaber; brothers, Bernard, Richard, Gerald, Lawrence and twin brother, Ralph; sisters, Ruth, Catherine and Elise.
Bob is survived by his wife, Genny (Harmon); daughters, Mary (Brett) Hume, Therese Schaber, Denise (Pete) McCumbers, Diane Schaber; son, Robert; grandchildren, Cory (Stephanie) Hume, Amanda (Joe) Stevens, Bridgette Hume, Bryan (Leanna) Hume, Ashley (Ben) Hoover and Gary Hume; six great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to all of the caregivers at the Arbors of Stow for their wonderful care, especially Pod D.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Trinity Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Blessed Trinity church.
