September 24, 1929 — March 25, 2017

Rose Scianna, 87, born September 24, 1929 and raised on North Hill, passed away in the early morning hours of March 25, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Margharita Madonia, and her beloved husband, Sam Scianna in 2014.

Rose spent her younger years on Bailey Court and attended Bryan Elementary School, Jennings Junior High and graduated from Akron North High School in 1948. Rose was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a loyal St. Thomas Hospital volunteer for 30 years, and a member of the Sicilian American Woman's Club. Through the year's she had a variety of part-time jobs at Remples Toy Factory, Dittmer's TV Center, and North Hill Marble and Granite. She loved sending greeting cards to all her many friends. The Dollar Tree and United States Postal Service will greatly miss her patronage.

Rose and Sam spent 64 glorious years together on North Hill raising their five kids together. She leaves a legacy of love in her children: Rosanne Scianna, Rene (Duane) Wetzel, Annette (Bruce) Wilson, Jeanann (Bill) Liska, and her son Mark Scianna (fiancée Gina Manning). Rose is also survived by her brother, Pete Madonia.

Rose leaves a generation of loving memories with her grandchildren: Amanda Smith Staloch (Jeffrey), Arte Smith (Jill), Kaedra Wetzel Jones (Alex), Krista Wetzel, Todd (Brittany) Wetzel, Courtney and Cassie Liska, Gina, Angelica (fiancé John Linn), and Cara Scianna; and great granddaughters: Avellana Rose Staloch, Sonora June Staloch, Hannah Rose Smith and one more great grandchild on the way who will always be reminded of how much their Grammy Rose loved them.
