Born on June 2, 1930 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Roy had lived in Tallmadge since 1970. He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1985 from Firestone Tire & Rubber Company from the position of Technical Coordinator-Africa-Asia-Australia as a polymer chemist with 35 years of service.
From 1960 to 1970 he and his family lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bangkok, Thailand, and were able to travel the world. He became active in Tallmadge Little League including organizing the umpiring. Roy was involved as a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America and Junior Achievement. He introduced Project PANDA to Tallmadge Schools. He was an active member of the Lions Club, serving as president and received the Melvin Jones Award. Roy was the recipient of the Tallmadge Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010, recognizing his dedication to the community. He was an active member of First Congregational Church, serving as Vice Chairperson to the Board of Trustees. Roy's passions included helping others, skiing, bowling, politics and U.S. history, in particular Gettysburg. Prior to the death of the love of his life, Marjorie, the two of them frequently drove cross county visiting their many friends and relatives, along the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. Morrow and brother, Dr. Dewitt Morrow.
Roy will be deeply missed by his daughter, Dr. Linda A. (Dr. Rob Schott) Morrow of San Diego, CA; sons, James R. (Angela) Morrow of Tallmadge, Richard D. Morrow (Cheryl Foy) of Bluffton, SC, Atty. Charles L. (Kathy) Morrow of Warren, Matthew J. Morrow (Janice Schwabenbauer) of Tallmadge, and Earl (Deanna) Chapin-Morrow of Ravenna; grandchildren, Jennifer McOmie, Conor Schott, Leah Campailla, Kelsie Franks, Kate Schott, Lauren Morrow, Jessica Morrow, Alex Morrow, Abbey Morrow, Jessie Morrow, Tia Allen and Rachael Scriver, nine great grandchildren; sister, Allene (Lawrence) Sonntag of Ann Arbor, MI, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle) and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Dr., Tallmadge with Rev Dr. John Schluep officiating.
