Ruth Alma (Swain-Steidl) Gauer

HUDSON -- Ruth A. Gauer, 93, passed away April 26, 2018.

Ruth was preceded in death by parents, Willard J and Alma T Swain; brother, Willard G Swain; husbands, Eugene J Steidl and Charles J Gauer; son, Jack D Steidl, and granddaughter, Heddy Blankenship.

She is survived by children, Lynda (Robert) Westbrooks and Larry (Martha) Steidl; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Joyce, Kevin (Pamela) Westbrooks, Kris (Deborah) Westbrooks, Michael (Jennifer) Steidl, Jeffrey (Anna Marie) Steidl, and Jeremiah (Carrie Arnold Tyndall) Steidl; and great grandchildren, Amanda, Autumn, Brady, Caleb, Cody, Cooper, Jack, Liam, Luke, Madeline, Nathan, Owen, Sebastian, and Zach.

A veteran of the US Navy (WW II), Ruth enjoyed western dancing, bowling, fishing trips and bingo. She also enjoyed spending time with her family (especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren) and her adopted family for the past three years at Heritage of Hudson.

Ruth's family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the caring doctor, nurses, aides, therapists and staff of Heritage of Hudson and VNS Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 10285 Ravenna Rd., Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.

Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
