Obituary

Sallie Long passed away quietly and peacefully on November 11th, 2024. A lifelong Akron resident, she was born on June 19th, 1950, went to Firestone high school, and later graduated from the University of Akron. For more than 30 years she worked for Rubber City Arches in public relations and customer service.

Sallie was a doting and caring mother, grandmother and sister who gave freely of herself to others and was always known for her compassion and enthusiastic, yet honest, support of the friends and family that she held dear. She was a regular parishioner of Blessed Trinity for more than 30 years. She loved crafts and animals, particularly cats, playing card games with her family and most importantly, laughing.

She leaves behind scores of loved ones who will mourn her passing but also celebrate years of wonderful memories. She is joined in death by her husband, Bruce and parents, William and Eugenia. She is survived by her son, Bradley, daughter-in-law, Kady, and beautiful granddaughter, McKenna, as well as her brother and sisters, Gerry, Amy and Susie Starn, and nieces, Courtni and Alissa.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Sallie's name. A memorial service will be held at Blessed Trinity Church in North Akron on December 4th at 10:00am with a small luncheon to follow.
