Sally Jo (Comber) Dalessandro

After a courageous battle with cancer, Sally passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, surrounded by her family.  Sally has been an inspiration to all who knew her for her graceful, spirited and dignified fight for the last couple of years.  She never complained due to her condition and just took it "one day at a time" thanking God for every tomorrow.  Her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a true friend.

Born in Akron, she graduated from Garfield High School, married on November 17, 1962 and lived in Tallmadge over the last 36 years.  Sally worked at O'Neils as a D.E. student where she met Tony.  Leaving O'Neils she worked at H & C Supply as an Assistant Branch & Operation Manager and also a Displayer for Home Interiors & Gifts.

Sally enjoyed belonging to Tallmadge Primetimes, Sons of Italy #685, Le Radici, Fr. Duffy Ladies Aux., St. Monica's, M.S. Conversanese Aux., St Anthony's Holy Name Society, The Italian Council and holding office in most of these.  No matter how busy she was her greatest joy was spending time with children and grandchildren.

Sally and her brother were reared by their grandparents known as Uncle Bill and Aunt Nettie Smith.  They preceded her in death along with parents, Pauline Comber Dudick (John), Henry (Betty) Comber and brother, Allyn (Red) Comber.

She is survived by Tony, her husband of 53 years, her sons, Joe and John (Aleisha); grandchildren, Tristen and Julia; in-laws, Ralph Dalessandro, Annie Zita, Mary Menecola and Celesta Vario, along with many nieces and nephews, and her pet dog, Kojo.

The family would like to give special thanks to The Oncology and Fusion Departments at Akron City Hospital and Hospice of Summa.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 73 North Avenue, Tallmadge with Rev. Mike Matusz officiating.  Visitation will take place immediately following the mass.  Per Sally's wishes, cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dalessandro Family c/o Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Avenue, Tallmadge 44278 (due to extensive medical bills).
