Shirley then retired in 1999 from Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula Mississippi. She was an avid reader, sometimes up to two or three books a week.
A staunch conservative, she was never at a loss for words. She was a great debater of anything political, educational or medical. She succumbed to her Pulmonary Fibrosis only moments after Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy for President of the United States.
Cremation has taken place, and a private service will occur in the near future.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Chase, the nurses and care givers at Senior Independence Hospice and her dear friend Stephanie for all of the care, love and compassion.
