Shirley Ann Lowrey, 81, died May 24, 2016 after a long illness. She was born in 1934 in Akron and lived all of her life in Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. She graduated from The University of Akron and taught at Lincoln and Roberts schools, retiring in 1997 with over 30 years of service. She was proud to have taught thousands of students throughout her career. Shirley was actively involved with Hower House, Children's Concert Series, Women's City Club, and College Club. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society. Preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Alva McGurn; son, Kevin Lowrey; brother, Walter Reed "Lucky" Bosley; Shirley is survived by her sons, Charles (Lin) Lowrey and Shane Lowrey; grandchildren, Jake, John, James, Kevin, Brian, and Charlie; sister, Marian Witford; brother, Ken McGurn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
