Stanley "Ed" Powell, 63, passed away December 3, 2024. He was born in Akron and lived all of his life in the area.
Ed was a self employed Construction Contractor, who built beautiful homes for people throughout the Northeast Ohio area. He enjoyed gardening, going to the ocean, collecting beer steins, watching racing, and doing many other things that brought him joy in life. Ed was a passionate animal lover and would frequently take in the strays of the neighborhood to care for them and give them a warm and loving place to stay. His favorite moments in life were getting to spend time with the people he loved and he would tell endless stories about those who made him smile.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patti; parents, Stanley and Darlene Powell, Jr., uncles, Lenard Powell, Tuffy Calain, and Jim Calain, in-laws Tom Letzler, Mike Black, Stan Cutright, Janet McKnight, Keith McKnight, and Terri Sepesie; nephews, Kenny Harms, William Harms, Aaron Cutright.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Megan Powell (Alex Johns); son, Christopher Powell; sisters, Rena Cutright, Sharon Letzler, Brenda Black; in-laws, Jim and Carree McKnight, Randee McKnight, and Brian McKnight; nieces and nephews, Angela (Jon) Longshore, Michael Black, Jacob Black, Madison McKnight and Morgan McKnight; as well as other friends, family and loved ones.
Calling hours will be from 4-6pm on Saturday December 21st, at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Dr, Tallmadge.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Ed to St Judes Children's Research Hospital or One of a Kind Pet Rescue.
A Celebration of Life will be held next spring.
