Steven Clay Ross

October 22, 1957 — March 12, 2022

Tallmadge

Steven Clay Ross, 64, went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:55; after a three year battle which ultimately composed a testimony of Steve's full trust in God and a faith well lived.

Steve was born in Memphis Tennessee on October 22, 1957.He moved to Tallmadge in 1999 with his wife Laura, and their sons. Steve loved people and conversation. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you would immediately become a friend. He valued everyone and was joy filled. Steve had a big personality, great and unique sense of humor, and a big heart for others.

Steve loved his family greatly. His grandchildren were the joy of his heart. He enjoyed laughter. He loved smiles, teasing, sarcasm, and jokes. He wanted to see people happy.

Other than family and friends, the most important part of Steve's life was his faith. Steve deeply loved the Lord, faithfully studied his Bible, was constant in prayer and worship, and imparted wisdom and love to others. He began every day by saying, "This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it."  His life reflected this verse.

Steve co-founded Armor of Hope Ministries in 2004 with his wife Laura. He has served on the Board of Directors since that time. Steve had a heart to serve others and had a deep compassion for the hurting.

Steve received his Bachelor's Degree from Lipscomb University in Vocal Performance. His joy was singing classical music. Steve sang on stages in several states and on stages in Europe. He most recently sang with the Cleveland Symphony Chorus until his health no longer permitted him to sing.

Steve was a "real, live phone man" working in the communications field. Steve practiced bee keeping and enjoyed raising chickens.

Steve was greeted in Heaven by his father, William Clay Ross and his grandbaby, Ella.

Steve is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laura; mother, Willma Laverne Ross; brothers, David (Paula), John (Mary); sons and daughter-in-laws Dan and Rachel, Dave and Sarah Beth, James and Ashley, and Tommy. He is Poppi or "Polar Bear" to 7 grandchildren: Rhema, Deiken, Wenslet, Marlo, River, Jude and another due in the fall. Steve also has many other brothers, children and grandchildren who are "adoptions of the heart".
