Terrel "Terry" Jay Saxe

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Terry Saxe, 80, passed away at home surrounded by family.

Terry was born on April 16, 1945 in Akron, Ohio. He was the middle child of Meredith and Alice Saxe. He was a 1964 graduate of Mogadore High School. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army. On November 2, 1968, he married the love of his life, Dear. He was employed at Goodyear and retired in 2002. He spent 45 years going up and down the Mogadore football field being part of the Chain Gang. He sat in his reserved chair at all home basketball games. He spent many hours at the Donut Depot and Frosted Mug.

Terry's favorite job was being a husband, dad, and papa. Family was his number 1 priority. He enjoyed family vacations to Rice Lake and Myrtle Beach. He spent many weeks on a cruse ship with Dear and their best friends. But his favorite activity was his grandkids sporting events. Papa's favorite seat was behind the back stop at any ball field.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Meredith and Alice Saxe; and brother, David Saxe.

Terry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen "Dear"; daughters, Leslie (Glen) Smith and Tracye (Craig) Lanham; grandchildren, Dylan, Reagan, Bo, Jackson; great grandchild, Oaklyn; sister, Linda (Chuck "Bud") Weyrick; sister-in-law, Sue Saxe; and nieces, nephews, and tons of friends.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home – Mogadore, 34 S Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, OH 44260. Please wear your Mogadore attire or favorite t-shirt to honor Terry.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to the Mogadore Fire Department or the Mogadore Alumni Foundation.
