Thomas Walter Barton

Thomas Walter Barton, 81, passed away June 16, 2024, at Treasure Coast Hospice, with his family by his side.

Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Mark Stanley Barton and Zoie Elizabeth Barton.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Willa Jean Barton; his brother, Jesse Stanley Barton; his grandson, Jacob Miller.

Tom was a retired member of the Local 219 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, after 35 years of service.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kimberly Barton Wozniak (Michael Sharpless), Dawn Barton (Robert Macenka, Jr.), Aaron Miller (Rochelle Green), Brock Barton (Elaine Barton); his grandchildren Hailey Pesich, Drew Barton, Savannah Barton, Lincey Phillips, and Jase Phillips. He is also survived by his two brothers Carl Barton (Jane Barton) and Bruce Barton (Gloria Barton), his sister Irene McCombs (Brian McCombs), and many nieces and nephews.

In his early years, Tom was active in the Mogadore Volunteer Fire Department and the Mogadore Jaycees (which he took to a new record-breaking fund raising with the Haunted House start-up). He was also very active in donating his time and effort in all his children's early lives through fundraising events and Mogadore sports activities. After his marriage to Willa, they became members of Lakeview Christian Church. When they moved to Florida, full time, Tom became involved in the HOA of his neighborhood. They also met several great friends that they enjoyed playing cards with and hosting dinner parties. Even though he moved away from Ohio, he remained an avid and loyal fan of the Browns, Indians (Guardians) and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

On Friday, July 12,2024, there will be Calling hours from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Lakeview Christian Church, 4613 S Main St, Akron, Ohio, 44319. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jim Gindlesberger. Following the Calling hours, there will be a Celebration of Life at the church at 5:00 p.m.
