Thomas Edward Crangle

Thomas Crangle, 79, passed away February 8, 2023. Born in 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, he lived most of his life in the Akron area.

Tom graduated from Central High in 1961 and attended Akron University. He was a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army and served in Heidelberg, Germany and the Republic of S. Vietnam. Tom was awarded several medals including the "Commendation Medal" for Meritorious Service. He volunteered services as a Draft Board Member of Local Board #114 in Akron. Tom was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Akron, Ohio.

Tom was a former member of the Lake Township Zoning commission and coached 5th grade Girls basketball in the Lake Youth Basketball League.  He also served as Board Member for the past 5 years with the Condominium Association.

Tom was a retired member of the SIU (Seafarers Int. Union) and the URW (United Rubber Workers). He was an avid golfer (never conquering the game) and spent many hours working in his yard after retiring from Hayes Lemmerz Int. in 2005.  He loved his pal Roscoe, whom he walked every morning and evening. Inseparable!!  Tom enjoyed talking with his fellow Recateers at the Tallmadge Recreational Center about cars and other things old men talk about!

He was preceded in death by his son, Geoffrey Thomas; brothers, Charles and Jack; father, Charles I.; and his mother, Katherine.

Tom is survived by his wife, Ellen of Munroe Falls; daughters, Jennifer (Horacio) Cabana, of Madrid, Spain, Stephanie of Cleveland; beloved granddaughter, Madeleine and his loving 4-legged companion, Roscoe.  He also leaves his brother, Mike (Kanitha) of Chicago; sister, Marikay (Laurie) of Virginia; many nieces, nephews and his inherited Italian family!  His repeated comment was "You'll miss me when I'm gone!", and he's right. Goodbye my friend.

Visitation will be 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023  at St. Eugene's Parish, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls.

Mass of Christian burial will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Pete Coletti officiating.

Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
