Velma D. Wallace, 90, of Tallmadge, passed away on May11, 2025. She was born in Ashley, West Virginia and lived most of her life in the Akron area. Velma worked at Eastwood Drug for several years until she joined East Ohio Gas, where she was a customer service rep. and accounting clerk before retiring in 1994 with 24 years of service. She was a member Wedgewood United Methodist Church. Velma was an avid reader. She was a very social person and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Homer Smith and Blanche Swiger; step-father, Corbett Swiger; great granddaughter, Bailey; son in law, Jim O'Brien; sisters in law, Sue Wallace, Elizabeth Rule
Velma is survived by her daughters, Christinna O'Brien of Green, Lavonne (Daniel) Wise of Copley, Jennifer (Robert) Ross of Akron; grandchildren, Brett (Kelly), Mark (Becki), Richard, Vanessa, Windi, Nikki; great grandchildren, Auddie, Lila, Gauge, Jackson, Travis, Gabriel; step great grandchildren, Drew, Alec, Dylan; great great-grandchildren, Grayson and Emersyn; brother, Homer B. (Sandra) Smith; brothers-in-law, Richard Wallace of West Virginia and Samuel (Lynn) Wallace of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made to the Haven of Rest, Akron
Visitation will be 4;00 until 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Donovan Funeral Home - 17 Southwest Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278 (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Memorial service will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joseph Burkhardt officiating.
Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
