Yolanda Bujorian, 93, of Munroe Falls, OH passed away peacefully June 2, 2023. She was born April 1, 1930 in her North Hill Akron home to Pasquale and Filomena Merlitti. Yolanda grew up in a loving household where she developed a lifelong interest in learning. Her long life is a testament to her strength of body and of will.
Yolanda graduated from North High School as the valedictorian of the January 1948 class. She earned a BA in education from the University of Akron in 1951 and an MA in education in 1955. Yolanda taught in the Akron, Parma and Tallmadge public schools and also served as a guidance counselor in Akron.
In addition to her parents, Yolanda was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Alfred, his siblings and their spouses, her sisters and brothers in law Louise (Robert) Eggleston, and Rita (Ed) Piotter, and many friends. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Bill) Troyer, John (Diane), Carl (Patty), and Anne (Chuck) Armao; grandchildren Andrew, Adam, Anthony (Amanda), Austin Jack (Brittany), Matthew (Andrea), and Mark Bujorian and Maria Armao; great-granddaughters Charlotte, Genevieve and Madeleine Bujorian; and her cat Abby who brought her much comfort and companionship.
Yolanda and Al lived in Tallmadge for 40 years and were active members of Our Lady of Victory Church. Upon moving to Munroe Falls, they joined Holy Family Church. Her faith manifested most often in being of service to others, sharing her time, talent and ideas. She served as a longtime volunteer for the United Way allocation advisory committee, a volunteer patient visitor at Akron City/Summa Health System, visitor of the elderly in nursing homes and caregiver for her parents.
Yolanda and Al always had a large and fruitful garden, sharing produce with friends and neighbors. She loved to sew and even sewed bibs for her great-granddaughters at the age of 92! Yolanda's family enjoyed her cooking, but most especially her homemade fruit pies—rhubarb custard, blueberry, cherry and apple. She was inspirational, devout, insightful, reflective, direct, kind, helpful and loving.
We would like to thank and acknowledge her Summa Health physicians, nurses and therapists and Munroe Falls EMS team. Special thanks to her caregivers whose capable hands and compassionate hearts helped make it possible for her to remain safe and healthy in her own home these last few years.
