Arthur Fields, 91, passed away, after a brief illness, on October 3, 2023.
He was born in Hamilton, Ohio. After graduation from Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Art settled in Akron. Art initially served as pastor of Riverside Church of Christ, in North Akron. After retirement, Art often stood in for vacationing pastors, at several local churches. Art was an accomplished commercial painter. He owned two painting companies: Akron Airless Equipment and Fieldhouse Enterprises. Also, as an Aquatics Director, many young people learned how to swim, through Art, at the Cuyahoga Falls YMCA.
Arthur was an all-around great guy. In high school and college, Art truly enjoyed playing baseball. For entertainment and fun, he was an accomplished magician. As an actor, through voice and costume, he also enjoyed performing as multiple bible characters, for many church groups. Patterson Park Singin’ Seniors were proud to have Art as a member, for over 30 years. During performances, he sang, and he also played the banjo, harmonica, and the autoharp. The group annually performs for assisted living centers, elementary schools, and holiday events. His enthusiastic pastimes included golfing, fishing, and his dogs.
Arthur was preceded by his sister, Mary Francis (Charles) Phipps; his loving wife, Anne; and his parents, Frank and Susan Fields.
