Barbara J. Sipe, 64, passed away April 8, 2018. Born in Akron, she lived her life in Tallmadge. She was a mother, grandmother and sister as well as a mentor and dear friend to many.
Barb worked for Summit County as Director of WIC and was a master gardener. Barb was a fixture in the regional dietetics community, and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of her clients and their children and the students she mentored, treating many as if they were her own. Barb had both love and talent for gardening, and the wisdom she imparted will sustain many gardens and growing seasons for years to come.
Barb had a truly memorable sense of humor, and her cheerful positivity improved even the bleakest of outlooks. She was both compassionate and a gifted conversationalist, and her unique ability to find common ground with a wide range of personalities was a consistent source of support for many. Barb's enthusiasm for life and all it had to offer was contagious, and her optimism and sunny personality will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barrett and Dorothy Sipe.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Alexis (Jason) Johnson of League City, TX, Natalie (Robert) Kucko of Uniontown; son, Jacob Waddle of Tallmadge; granddaughter, Penelope Rose; her significant other, John Anewalt of Akron; sisters, Nancy Erickson of Havertown, PA, Julie (Warren) Villalovos of Lakewood, CO, Kathleen (John) Arther of Hudson; brother, John Sipe of Aurora, CO.
