Carolyn Holt Obituary

In loving memory of Carolyn Ann Holt who passed away February 19, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born on December 24, 1945, in Akron, Ohio.

Carolyn was a proud Olympian and competed in basketball, softball, volleyball, track, and bocce ball at numerous Special Olympics games, winning many medals and trophies. She loved all furry animals but most especially “Trouble” her beloved cat. Interacting with animals brought her great joy and happiness. She loved Scooby Doo and Eeyore, collecting stuffed animals, watching movies, and walking down memory lane through the pages of her handmade scrapbook albums containing pictures of precious moments in her life. Her favorite color was purple, which is of course “the best color of all time.” She loved going out for lunch or dinner with her family and friends. If there was anything with shrimp on the menu, that was what Carolyn was going to order, generally accompanied by a diet Pepsi. Carolyn had a great sense of humor and loved playing jokes on her family and friends. When at home she would often be found coloring with her colored pencils and gel pens or making some art project with the staff and filling the bird feeders so she could watch the birds.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Kennie and Dean Holt. She is survived by her sisters: Linda (Tim) Wenning and Donna (Steve) McCreery; nephews and nieces: Stephen McCreery II, Stacy (Ryan) Kuntz, Tiffany (Nathan) Frient, Brandon (Fabiola) McCreery, Tabitha (Joel) Clayton; great-nephews and - nieces: Stephen McCreery III, Summer McCreery, Jadie McCreery, Ian McCreery, and Phinehas Clayton; as well as many cousins and also her best friend, Dedra Norton.

Over the years, Carolyn received a great deal of help and care from family, friends, and medical staff alike. Many of these ones went above and beyond to support her in every way possible. To everyone who treated Carolyn with love and kindness, the family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home – Tallmadge (17 Southwest Ave, Tallmadge, OH, 44278) with service to follow at 3:00 p.m.

The service will also be streamed on the Donovan Funeral Home website.
