Clarabelle May (Phalen) Whitis

Clarabelle May Whitis, 93, passed away April 21, 2023.She was born May 24, 1929 and lived most of her life in Akron.

Clarabelle was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and had worked at Kent Latex. She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed the activities at the senior center, bingo and gambling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgle; son, Thomas Whitis; parents, Francis and Josephine Phalen; 8 siblings.

Clarabelle is survived by her son, Russell (Kathleen) Whitis; daughters, Pamela (Ray) Massoli, Kimberly Whitis, Sandra Harris; ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; sister, Bernadine (Carl); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave, Tallmadge.

Mass of Christian burial will follow visitation at the church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Matusz and Fr. John Hengle officiating.  The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Our Lady of Victory’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ourladyofvictorychurchtallmadge/. 

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
