Cory Matthew Scherer

Cory Matthew Scherer, 33, passed away suddenly on August 2nd.

Cory had the kindest and purest soul, and never said an unkind word toward anyone. He loved music, especially punk rock, was very intelligent as well as artistic and creative, loved to play Dungeons and Dragons, and had the most wonderful sense of humor. His grandma and grandpa will miss his beautiful smile. He lit up every room and warmed every heart he touched. We will miss him greatly until we are reunited.

He is survived by his mother, Marcia and Anthony Ponikvar; his father, Brian and Shelby Scherer; brother, Derek; grandparents, John and Theresa Otremsky; grandfather, Donald Scherer; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his dear kitty, Mr. P.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours.

Cory’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Cory’s memory to the Akron Children’s Hospital Suicide Prevention program by visiting
