Daniel R. Camburn passed away on February 20th, 2021, at the age of 67, due to complications of COVID. Dan was born on August 12th, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA to Elaine (Moseley) and Daniel Camburn. He graduated from Penn State, with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, in 1976. He also received his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Kent State in 1998.
After several years in management, Dan discovered his passion for teaching. He started his career as an English Teacher with Akron Public Schools in 1994. He introduced students to the art of theatre, by starting a drama program at several schools. Dan was also an inspiring coach of both Speech & Debate and soccer. He touched the lives of many students and faculty through his classes and extracurricular activities, before retiring in 2019.
Aside from his career in teaching, Dan will be remembered for his roles in multiple theaters (Carousel, Coach House, Hudson Players, Karamu House, Porthouse, Stow Players, Trumpet in the Land, and Weathervane), his passion for singing and announcing, and love of family and friends. He received the Royal Coach Award from Coach House four times for Best Actor, and twice for Best Supporting Actor. Dan was also very active in the church, enjoyed traveling with his family, and playing golf.
Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His memory will always be cherished by Nancy, his loving wife of 41 years; his children, Jenny (Jeremy), Dan (Laura), and Heather (Jason); his grandchildren, Lena, Danny, Luna, and Zach; and his siblings, David (Vicki), Dawn, and Jimmy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25th, from 11AM – 1PM, with a service following at 1PM, at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, OH 44278.
