Domenico Rinaldi

Domenico Rinaldi, 89, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Born in Bonefro, Italy on October 25, 1933, and then moved to Akron, Ohio in 1960. Domenic worked at the Atlantic Foundry for ten years, then retired from the City of Akron after 25 years of service.  He was an active member/bartender at the Italian Center Club. Known as Papa, his grandchildren were his greatest joy.  Domenic enjoyed being outdoors and took pride in keeping his yard and garden perfectly maintained. He was a handy man and could fix anything around the house. Domenic loved his wine and to sing Italian songs. Even in his last few years with Dementia, he could still remember all the words and sang them to everyone around him to his very last day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guiseppe and Rosaria Rinaldi; daughter, Angela Franceschi; and brothers, Costanzo, Michele and Nicola Rinaldi.

Domenic is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edilia Rinaldi; sister, Antonietta Cavazzini; daughters, Rosanne (Jerry) Volchko, Nancy (Eric) Schikowski; sons, Joe (Bridget) Rinaldi and Don (Becky) Rinaldi; grandchildren, Ryan, Colleen, Marisa, Nicole, Andrea, Amanda, Sarina, Sage, Roman and Domenic.

Visitation will be 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron with Reverend Joe Warner officiating.

Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
