Donald (Don) Lee Cooper, 88, of Mogadore, passed away on August 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on November 24, 1934 in Gallipolis, OH to the late Clayton Edwin Cooper and Geraldine (Pickens) Cooper.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family more than anything on this earth. Don graduated from Garfield High School and attended the University of Akron. He served 6-1/2 years in the Army Reserves; then later retired as a manager for Ohio Bell after 35 years of service.
Don was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed golf, tennis, baseball, football and was inducted into the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame in 2019. He loved spending time outdoors, especially in his garden and mowing his lawn. Sundays spent with family were a weekly treasure. Every beach vacation, holiday and special occasion was an opportunity to gather all of his loved ones together and watch his family grow.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Charles and twin brother, Darrell.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kay; his children, Donald (Debbie) Cooper and Krista (Matt) Kristophel; his grandchildren, Kali (Nate), Megan (Ryan), Joe, Isabel and Mike; great grandchildren, Grayson, Ava and Wyatt; sister-in-laws, Sandra Cooper and Elinor Cooper; many nieces, nephews and their families.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Brian Donelan and all of the nurses and doctors at Summa Hospital ICU T2 for their outstanding care and compassion to Don and his family.
Per Don’s wishes, a private service will be held for immediate family.
