After a courageous battle with a long illness, Donna Ann Gainor Peters went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2020.
Donna graduated from Alliance High School in 1969 as a member of the National Honor Society. She then went on to complete an education degree at Bowling Green State University in 1973 graduating Kappa Delta Pi. Upon accepting a teaching job in Brimfield, Ohio, she taught Jr. High Math at Field Local Schools for 23 years until retiring in 1996. Although she was a math teacher, she gave much of her energy and time to life changing counsel, friendship, and support of young people, that also included being a foster parent. Donna continued all her life to listen to and help people in many ways. Donna loved to sing in church and for a number of years in the choir. She was an active member of the First Church of God in Tallmadge. She loved her dogs, Shayla Lou and Slugger along with her previous dogs. Donna was a teacher of the importance of life choices and a maniac fan of both the Browns and Cavs sports teams; but was most probably remembered for her fantastic cooking, great kindness, and generosity.
She was born in Alliance, Ohio on August 20, 1951, the daughter of Gligor and Helen Gainor. She was married to Alexander Peters, August 11, 1973.
Donna is survived by her loving husband; daughter, Rebekah Kathryn Mills of Ashland, OH.; brother, Danny and wife, Laura Gainor of Phoenix, AZ., and their son, Greg Gainor of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves behind Wendy and Max Baker of Canton, OH, Alba and Tom Roth of Pittsburg, PA., the Todd Gainor family of Alliance OH., the McDonald and John families of Newark, OH., the Cathy Frei family of Angola, IN., the Christie Richards and Rachael Bitzel families of Myrtle Beach, SC., the Adi Seitz family in Germany, and the Rafael Satizabal family in Colombia. She is survived by many more cousins, relatives, friends, and loved ones from all over the world. In Yumbo, Colombia she is known as the second mother to a family there.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, her funeral will be private. There will be a public memorial service for all that will be announced at a later date, when it is safe to interact again so we can properly celebrate the life of this amazing woman.
