Dorotea (Dora) Quattrocchi won her final hand at cards on August 14, 2023 and joined her husband Joseph (Joe) in heaven. She was surrounded by her family who will mourn the loss of their loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dora was born on November 18, 1936 in Termini Imerese, Sicily. Her earliest memories were of World War II. She vividly recalled her first taste of chocolate from an American soldier. Dora lived in Sicily until she married the love of her life, Joe, on March 18, 1954 and immigrated to Akron, Ohio. Dora retired from Audio-Technica after over 20 years of service. She was a valued employee
who was truly missed when she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She celebrated her Italian history as a member of Le Radici, served on the Italian Council, volunteered for years at the Italian Festivals, and of course went to every Italian dance. She was one of the last ones to leave the dance floor. Dora was also a member of Patterson Park Plus 50.
Dora was proud of the family she built with Joe. She learned to love her nickname of Dodo that her grandchildren affectionately gave her. She looked forward to Sunday dinners and holidays with her family. There were always fears there would not be enough food, but each dinner, family left with to-go containers. In her later years she enjoyed teaching her family how to make her famous bread. No gathering was complete without a card game. Dora was an avid player (and winner) of the card game 31. She loved playing with her grandchildren, but she cherished playing cards with her friends.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband Joe Quattrocchi; parents, Anthony and Josephine Scimeca; in-laws, Marion and Rose Quattrocchi; siblings, Pina (Tony) Cira, Gino Scimeca, Charlie Scimeca, Nuccia (Tony) DiMaria; sister-in-law, Marguerite (Alex) Maximovich, brother-in-law, Frank (Olga) Quattrocchi; son-in-law, Joseph Kainrad.
She is survived by her children, Rose (Rick) Bochert, Jo Anne (David) Hetrick, Anna (Rick) Pease and Lisa Kainrad, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Vince (Frances) Scimeca, sisters-in-law, Zina Scimeca and Grace Scimeca; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Goodbye Dodo we will miss you.
The family would like to thank Summa Hospice and nurse Shannon, Darlene, Amy and the weekend Hospice nurses for their compassion during Dora’s final months.
