Henry E. Ratliff, 91, passed away August 21, 2023. Born in Akron, he has lived in Tallmadge most of his life.
Henry served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korea Conflict. Henry was a volunteer fireman with Tallmadge Fire Department from 1967-1983. In 1978 he became their first EMT. He retired from Babcock Wilcox as a machinist. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Henry also enjoyed carpentry and traveling. His greatest joy was raising his 11 kids in Tallmadge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Harry and Una Ratliff; daughter, Terri Hughes; son in law, JD Rosenbaum; daughter in law, Cheri Ratliff; brothers, Harold R and Harry Ratliff.
Henry is survived by his children, Linda (John) Nienhius, David (Carol) Ratliff, Ted (Becky) Ratliff, Debby (Jerry) Shumaker, DebiAnn Rosenbaum, Becky (Mark) Burton, Joe (Julie) Ratliff, Tim Ratliff, Keeley (Alan) Puett, John Ratliff; son in law, Bob Hughes; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren; sisters in law, Betty Lowden, Peggy Truman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 1 until 4 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday August 28, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Tommie Nicholas officiating.
Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.
