James Richard Baltes, 67, passed away September 17, 2021.
Born in Akron, James had lived in the Mogadore area for most of his life. Jim loved riding his Harley. He was a big fan of The Grateful Dead and Joe Walsh. He was an excellent audio engineer and loved his work and the people he worked with. He had a great sense of humor. His favorite breakfast was black coffee, a cigarette, and a newspaper. Jim could fix just about anything. He carried a full set of tools with him in his truck wherever he went. He was always prepared. If you borrowed his tools, and didn’t put them back properly, or heaven forbid - forget to return them, you’d be in big trouble.
Jim recently became a HAM radio operator. He really enjoyed this new hobby and I’m sure made many friends. He was very good at cards and excellent at Euchre.
Besides tuna sandwiches, his favorite food was hamburgers with a side of potato chips and a Coke. He was Polish on his mothers’ side, a pierogi lover and proud of it. Jim liked to cook and knew how to make great cabbage rolls.
Jim loved Rosie, our ornery Great Dane, and Darla, our black and white Terrier; his darling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Stella Baltes, sister, Marianne Baltes and brother, Michael Baltes.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jean; daughter, Megan Johnson; son William Baltes; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson and Lucas Baltes.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 2nd from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lion’s Community Park, Pavilion 1, 194 Hale St. Mogadore, OH 44260.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made in Jim's name to the Summit County Humane Society.
