James Alden Talbott, 84, a resident of Mogadore, Ohio since 1967, was born August 5, 1937 in Jackson, Ohio (Jackson County), and passed away January 26, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doris Talbott; sister, Diana Talbott; and grandson, William Wright.
James is survived by his wife, Mae; daughters, Virginia Wright, Melanie (Robert Oetken) Talbott; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Wright, Madison and Boyd Oetken.
James was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School, and he graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1959. He received his U.S. Air Force commission upon graduation from OSU, and served eight years on active duty, three of which were in Tripoli, Libya. After his duty with the Air Force, he worked for Goodyear Aerospace Corporation for twenty years until Sir James Goldsmith raided the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and the parent company was forced to sell Goodyear Aerospace to Loral Corporation. James continued working for Loral Corporation and Aircraft Braking Systems for another five years before taking an early retirement. After that, he worked for nine years as an independent contractor financial planner and managed an independent property and casualty insurance agency founded by his parents.
He and his wife, Mae, sang in Protestant chapel choirs and civilian church choirs most of their married lives. He was a member of Mogadore United Methodist Church, where he and his wife sang in the choir. He was former Director of the Big Spring, TX Community Concert Association, a Charter Member of the Big Spring Civitan International Club, a former member of the Mogadore Local School Board, a Past Commander of the Mogadore Park Etter American Legion Post, and a Past President of the Akron Canton Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 4 pm-6 pm and Friday, February 4, 2022, from 9 am-11 am at the Donovan Funeral Home – Mogadore, 34 S. Cleveland Ave.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11 am at the Donovan Funeral Home – Mogadore, 34 S. Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Eric Kluth officiating.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Mogadore United Methodist Church or to the Mogadore Fire Department.
