Jerald “Max” Hickle, 96, passed away November 1, 2018. Born in Cambridge, he lived most of his life in the Akron area.
Max served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked in the grocery business for 47 years, and retired from Stellar Private Cable at 95 years old. He played in the Akron Silver Softball League well into his 80’s. He was a member of the Masons and enjoyed golfing, bowling, gambling, and euchre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Alberta Hickle; sister, Beulah Hardman; brothers, Les, Gene and Jake.
Max is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol; daughter Susan (Robert) Benic of Hudson; son, Jerald (Elaine) Hickle of Rootstown; step son, Larry (Amy) Smith of Munroe Falls; grandchildren, Jere Benic, Dan (Karen) Hickle, Michael (Stephanie) Hickle, Derek (Erica) Smith, Michael Smith, and Randy Smith.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Donnovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle) with Rev. Jim Case officiating.
Interment will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
