Joseph "Mike" Marinics

Joseph “Mike” Marinics, 86, passed away August 29, 2021. Born in Akron on February 2, 1935 to Joseph and Delores Marinics.  He attended David Hill and graduated from Garfield High School.

Mike played baseball in high school and at the University of Akron. His passion for baseball continued with coaching.  Mike was involved with the growth of the Ellet Little League through the development of coach pitch and E League Travel Ball. Later he became an assistant coach at Ellet High School. He was also a coach in Ellet Pee Wee Football.

Mike and his family were transferred to Phoenix, Arizona with Goodyear Aerospace and he retired from Loral Defense Systems. After he retired, Mike and his wife, Marcene moved back to Tallmadge, Ohio. In his later years, Mike enjoyed being involved with the Tallmadge Rec A Peers and rooting for the Buckeyes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Delores Marinics and wife, Marcene Marinics.

Mike is survived by his children, Pam (Jeff) Clerico of Tallmadge, Michael Marinics of Tallmadge, Jill (Daniel) Ryan of Phoenix; grandchildren, Amanda and Joe Clerico, Casey and Michael Marinics Jr. and Noah and Jacob Ryan.

A private family gathering has taken place in his honor.
