Karen Marie Drechsler, 65, gained her wings on April 13, 2022. Born in Akron, she lived most of her life in the Tallmadge and Mogadore area.
Karen retired after 20+ years as a teacher at Akron Public Schools. She enjoyed going to the beach, reading, jet skiing, traveling, and listening to country music. She held a special place in her heart for Tom Selleck, Toby Keith, and Cleveland baseball players (especially Jason Kipnis).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Drechsler.
Karen is survived by her sister and caregiver, Judy Drechsler and nieces, Annie (Owen Klingenberg) and Madison (Cody Lombardi), and her dogs Max and Monty. She will especially be missed by Val and Navi Croghan, Kathy and Bob Watters, Missy Schnee, Steve Shoemaker, Jan Brustman, the Giulitto family, the Stanley and May families, and the Petrovich families.
Thank you to the Tallmadge High School Class of 1975 for making her last days so memorable. A special thank you to the Cleveland Clinic Home Care doctors, nurses, bathers, and physical therapists for taking such good care of Karen.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Funeral service will follow visitation at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Case officiating.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for later in the year.
