Marie M. Siddall

Marie Siddall, affectionately known as “Meme”, 101, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her family and with great anticipation of heaven on February 28, 2021.

Born in Akron in 1919, Marie lived in the area most of her life until retiring to Tennessee in 1979.  To the pure delight of their grandchildren, Russ and Marie would make regular visits to Ohio, staying with the family for weeks at a time.  In 2000, they returned to Ohio to live many more happy years across the street from their family in Tallmadge.  Marie loved babysitting, first her grandchildren who she spoiled rotten with love, attention, and reading them books, and then her great grandchildren.  She was a natural with little ones and a caregiver by nature to both young and old.  Marie was a good and loyal friend.  In their youth, Russ and Marie were roller skating stars, performing tricks such as spinning with her feet behind his head.  Other adventures included riding motorcycles, boating, and raising two boys.  Later in life, she always made sure Russell had on the correct pair of pants for the occasion and she loved and cared for him dearly.  Even more remarkable than her age were her wit, memory, and feisty spirit.  She credited her long life to hard work and chocolate. She loved gardening and weeding her lawn, cleaning and climbing ladders to wash windows.  Her last ladder was finally confiscated by family around the age of 93.  She walked every day she could into her late nineties.  Marie taught herself how to quilt in the 1970’s and hand sewed many beautiful, intricate quilts for the next 40 years until her vision made it impossible to continue.  By example, Marie taught her family the value of hard work, sacrifice, taking care of each other, having a good sense of humor, and what it truly means to lead a life well lived.  She was a member of the First Seventh Day Adventist Church in Akron and then attended Christ Community Chapel in Hudson.  Because of her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she looked forward to and is now enjoying wholeness in His presence and the sweet reunion with those gone before her. 

She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 64 years, Russell Siddall; mother and stepfather, John and Suzanna Teibel; father, John Koch; son, Donley Siddall; sisters, Katherine Morgan Pritchard, Ruth Justice; and brother, Edward Teibel.

Marie is survived by her son, Rodney (Diane) Siddall of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Allison (Marc) Landes, David Siddall, Kristi Siddall Corbett; and great grandchildren, Luke and Jack Landes.

Private services will be held for the family.

Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
