Paul Arvin

June 29, 1939 — January 18, 2022

Ravenna

Paul Arvin, age 82, of Ravenna, Ohio passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Paul was born June 29, 1939, in Lenoir, NC to the late Myrtle (Tomlinson) and William Arvin. He and his family moved to Ohio when he was five years old. He is a graduate of St. Vincent High School in Akron and the University of Akron, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961. That same year, he married the love of his life, Mary (Case) Arvin, who survives him, on May 27. His career took him to both northern corners of the state, as well as Huntington, WV. He ended his career in Ravenna, where he and Mary retired.

A member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Ravenna, he was a devout and active Catholic throughout his life. Paul was also an avid golfer and served as secretary for the Post 281 Seniors Golf League during his retirement. He loved fishing and spending weekends at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington. However, his greatest love was found with Mary, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage last summer, his daughters, and their families.

Paul is survived by Mary; daughters, Julie (Keith) Johnson of Galena, Linda (Tom) Caldwell of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Susan Arvin of Euclid; grandchildren, Molly, Zachary, and Annie Johnson, Jacob and Katie Caldwell, and Brianna, Markus, Ciera, and Caleb (Kait) West; sister, Mary Lemon of Mogadore; brother, William of Corpus Christi, TX; and host of nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Patricia (Robert) Rice, and sister-in-law, Peg (William) Arvin.

A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 25 at 11:00 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 409 W Main St, Ravenna, OH, with Reverend Bill Kraynak officiating.

The family will receive visitors at 10:30 before Mass.

A celebration of life with family and friends will be held later in the year.
